In June 2021, QS I-Gauge which is a global rating organization, gave Jagran Lake city University the "DIAMOND" rating, which made it the first university in MP & CG to receive this honor. Education World recognized JLU as the thirty-best private university in India in 2021. The Jagran School of Journalism and Mass Communication at JLU Bhopal has also been ranked by India Today and Outlook India as being No. 1 in Madhya Pradesh and among the top 15 schools in India for 2020.

Admission to the majority of top courses like B.Tech, LLB, LLM, and MBA is determined by entrance exam scores, however for the other courses, it is determined by the excellence of the prior qualifying degree or exam.
